David Wardman
DAVID WARDMAN - WATERCOLOUR ARTIST
As a watercolour artist I seek out subject matter that enables me to express a certain deep feeling of spirituality. I look to be moved by an understanding of the meaning life offers, and the life force itself, painted with clarity of the mind.
SIMPLICITY IN PAINTING NATURE
Simplicity can be seen as a reflection of an innate inner quality of the mind, manifesting itself as tranquility of the spirit. This can be expressed in the way we create art. In watercolour painting a certain amount of ‘letting go’ is required, letting the colours blend of their own accord, still having the structure, but letting the moment guide us. A painting might condense into something utterly simple whilst retaining depth and meaning, its approach requiring the paring down to the essential, and the working with economy of means. Simplicity is present in our painting when it encapsulates the essence of the subject matter rather than being an exact and laboured interpretation.
David studied art and design at North Western Polytechnic in London, he has been a lecturer and tutor at Sydney University, and Sydney College of the Arts, he presently teaches the fundamentals of watercolour painting in his studio in The Blue Mountains, Australia. He has exhibitions mostly in Sydney, and continues to paint in his studio.
Paintings are available as originals or limited edition prints, each painting in an edition of 50, printed by the artist,on acid free fine art paper. using pigment inks.
