Karla Roberson Man - Artist
As a child growing up in the Texas Panhandle, my grandmother, Mimi, took me to my first art fair. Little did I know the seed for my future career was planted.
After graduating with a B.F.A. in Studio Art at the University of Texas at Austin, I pursued commission work in Austin. Knocking door to door through the elegant neighborhood of Tarrytown, kind souls said yes to my offer to execute a portrait of their homes.
Since then, I have been commissioned to execute murals, stage sets, travel portraits, architecture and garden paintings. My exhibits have taken me to Napa Valley in California, Richmond, Virginia, Rome, Italy and Texas.
It is with pure joy that I invite you to peruse through the pages of artwork and when inspired consider having your own portrait from your favorite vacation or residential home portrait executed in oils, pen and ink or pencil.

Inspiration
My inspiration has been developed through the years from studies at The University of Texas at Austin, architecture and gardens from the Texas Hill Country and incredible trips abroad with a focus on Italy. Most importantly, clients who share their ideas with me in order to create a lasting image for their families.
Techniques
My painting techniques include sketching onsite, taking photographs or slides and bringing images to life on linen or cotton duck canvas with high-grade oils and mediums.
For illustrations of architecture, I take photographs of home or buildings or the client provides them. Pen and ink or pencil is the most popular medium. The occasional watercolor and gouche or oil on canvas is commissioned.
Career Highlights
Working one-on-one with clients has been the best highlight. As far as exhibitions go, my one-woman show in Rome, Italy takes the cake!
